The area has 14 of Pennsylvania's premiere ski complexes, and a golf course at Edgewood in the Pines at Drums, PA, that challenges players in over 40,000 rounds annually. In addition, courses belonging to numerous local resorts add to the golf excitement.

Want baseball? The Red Barons of Scranton, an AAA farm team for the Philadelphia Phillies, play professional baseball that you can enjoy without breaking a family budget, the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Penguins and Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers (Hockey and Arena Football), also are available.

Three of Northeastern Speaking of resorts, a few Pennsylvania's largest libraries is located within driving distance, offering a combined collection of more than 160,000 volumes.
